Head of Data Platform and Governance
Job Description:
Overview:
The Head of Data Platform and Governance is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organizations data platform, data quality management, and data governance initiatives. This role ensures that the company leverages accurate, secure, and well-governed data to drive strategic decision-making and business performance. The position also acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in building a unified reporting capability across the organization, establishing a single source of truth for all critical data assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, testing, and implementation of data loads, pipelines, and database schema changes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Oversee issue resolution related to the data warehouse and data platform to maintain reliability and operational excellence.
- Develop and enforce a comprehensive Data Governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure that business requirements for data are met and aligned with architectural strategies and implementation plans.
- Drive and deliver strategic programs and initiatives related to data platform and governance in alignment with defined roadmaps and KPIs.
- Promote a strong data-driven culture and establish accountability for data ownership across all business functions.
- Serve as the owner of the organizations data platforms, ensuring optimal system performance, data integrity, and adherence to data security and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define and execute the data platform roadmap, monitor progress, and report on key metrics.
- Support business units in their data extraction, analytics, and reporting requirements to enable informed decision-making.

Communication and Collaboration:
- Partner with key internal stakeholders to address data needs, establish governance mechanisms, and ensure alignment with business priorities.
- Manage relationships with data management vendors and external service providers to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
Qualifications and Skills:
Business and Leadership Skills:
- Proven leadership capability with a track record of managing, engaging, and retaining high-performing teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Solid background in project and process management with the ability to deliver results in complex environments.
Technical and Professional Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Information Management, Mathematics/Statistics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in IT, data analysis, or data management, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Deep understanding of data governance, data architecture, and data management practices.
- Hands-on experience with business analytics, data visualization tools, and enterprise data management programs.
- Strong knowledge of data security standards and best practices.
