Accounting Manager (Retail / FMCG)
Job Description:
Office location: BGC, Taguig
Work Setup: Full onsite
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Compressed Work Week (8:30am - 6:30pm)
Role Overview
The Accounting Manager oversees daily accounting operations to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting. This role leads the accounting team, supports management with financial insights, and strengthens controls and processes within a retail-driven environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA license is an advantage (open also to non-CPA).
- At least 5 years of general accounting experience within the retail, FMCG, or related industries, handling multiple business units or branches.
- Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Prior experience in retail, FMCG, or distribution industries is required.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and tax regulations
- Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems such as SAP, QuickBooks, or similar platforms
- Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and process improvement skills
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing activities
- Analyze financial results and provide actionable insights to support business decisions
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
Accounting Operations
- Manage core accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
- Ensure proper recording and control of sales, inventory, and cost of goods sold transactions
- Maintain and enhance accounting systems, policies, and procedures aligned with retail operations
- Establish and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and ensure compliance
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Partner with operations and management teams to track performance against financial goals
Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate internal and external audit activities and address audit findings
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting, and internal financial policies
- Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Work closely with cross-functional teams such as operations, procurement, and marketing to align financial practices
