Finance Manager - Internal Controls & Governance (CPA)

Role Overview
The Finance Controls and Governance Manager is responsible for strengthening and maintaining the organization's financial controls and governance framework through controls testing, quality assurance, process reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role works closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance, audit readiness, effective issue remediation, and alignment of financial processes with governance standards.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.
- With 7–10 years of relevant experience in Controllership, Internal Audit, External Audit, or Finance leadership roles.
- Strong background in internal controls, governance, compliance, controls testing, and issue remediation.
- Experience in quality assurance, continuous improvement, and business process review initiatives.
- Experience within service or utility industries is an advantage.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and financial reporting controls is preferred.
- Certified Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, or similar certifications are an advantage.
- Experience in change management initiatives or transformation projects is preferred.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder management, communication, and project coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute enterprise-wide controls testing, including design and operating effectiveness assessments across various business units.
- Prepare audit-ready workpapers, supporting documents, and evidence logs.
- Monitor identified issues, validate remediation activities, and escalate high-risk or overdue action items.
- Maintain and update Finance Controls & Governance templates, including policies, SOPs, process narratives, walkthroughs, and testing workpapers.
- Review and quality assure owner-prepared documentation to ensure alignment with governance standards.
- Support implementation rollouts and process changes by coordinating updates with stakeholders and process owners.
- Prepare dashboards and reports covering testing results, exceptions, remediation status, and issue aging metrics.
- Conduct walkthroughs and process reviews to identify control gaps and support corrective action implementation.
- Support quality assurance reviews across finance processes including S2P, R2R, M2C, PS, and A2D.
- Draft training materials and support governance and controls-related training initiatives.
- Assess the impact of ERP and reporting system changes on financial controls and update RCMs, controls, and testing procedures accordingly.
- Partner with IT teams and control owners to validate ERP control configurations and gather system-generated evidence for testing and audit requirements.
- Identify opportunities for automation and continuous monitoring initiatives such as exception reporting and dashboard enhancements.
