Role Overview
The Accounting Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulatory requirements, as well as the accurate preparation and filing of tax returns and related reports. The role supports month-end closing activities by reconciling tax-related accounts and coordinating with internal teams to resolve discrepancies. This position also liaises with regulatory agencies and assists in internal and external audit requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accountancy; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in general ledger accounting with tax compliance responsibilities.
  • Must have experience in handling tax compliance within the real estate industry.
  • Knowledge of financial statement preparation and note disclosures.
  • Familiarity with Philippine Accounting Standards (PAS) and/or Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).
  • Knowledge of tax reconciliation between financial accounting and tax reporting.
  • Should have experience using SAP or similar accounting systems.
  • Background in real estate accounting and taxation is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely compliance with tax regulations and requirements issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), local government units (LGUs), and other regulatory bodies.
  • Support month-end closing by coordinating with the general ledger team on tax-related accruals, adjustments, and reconciliations, including income tax, value-added tax (VAT), and expanded withholding tax (EWT).
  • Prepare, analyze, and file monthly and quarterly tax returns, including withholding taxes, VAT, percentage tax, and income tax returns, as well as other tax filings such as capital gains tax and documentary stamp tax when applicable.
  • Prepare and submit required tax attachments and reports such as alphalists, summary lists of sales and purchases, supplier reports, and other regulatory submissions.
  • Monitor and coordinate statutory requirements such as business permit renewals, annual registration fees, and real estate tax compliance.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies during audits and submit required documentation, schedules, and reconciliations as needed.
  • Assist internal, external, and regulatory audits by preparing supporting schedules, reports, and relevant documentation.
  • Support the preparation and filing of annual audited financial statements and annual income tax returns, including compliance with related party transaction reporting and other statutory requirements.
  • Ensure proper documentation, filing, and monitoring of all tax-related submissions and correspondence.
  • Perform other related duties, special projects, and ad hoc reports as required by management.
