Legal Manager (Power/Energy)
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice to senior leadership on corporate, regulatory, and commercial matters related to the power and energy industry.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including EPC agreements, power supply agreements, joint ventures, procurement contracts, land acquisition documents, and service agreements.
- Oversee legal due diligence for new projects, partnerships, and acquisitions.
- Ensure compliance with national and local regulations governing energy, utilities, and essential service development.
- Manage disputes, litigation, and coordination with external counsel when necessary.
- Develop and implement internal policies, legal frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Support government permitting processes, regulatory filings, and project approvals.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting operations and advise management on necessary adjustments.
- Mentor and supervise members of the legal team.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Law (LLB/JD); must be a licensed attorney.
- 810 years of progressive legal experience, preferably within the power, energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong background in commercial law, regulatory compliance, and contract management.
- Experience dealing with government agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
