Accounting Manager
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Supervise the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Monitor and analyze financial data, providing insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Accounting Operations
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Ensure proper documentation and controls over sales, inventory, and cost of goods sold (COGS) transactions.
- Coordinate and maintain accounting systems and procedures aligned with retail operations.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Partner with operations and management to monitor financial performance against targets and identify improvement opportunities.
Audit & Compliance
- Manage internal and external audit requirements and related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, government reporting requirements, and corporate financial policies.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff to build capability and performance.
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments such as Operations, Procurement, and Marketing to align financial practices and support business objectives.
